Summary

In 2016, 33 Buckets teamed up with Schools for Sustainability to provide safe clean drinking water to Batey Sabana Larga near Monte Plata that is comprised of an estimated 150 people. The main source of water for the community was tested to contain a high concentration of coliform bacteria such as e. coli. 33 Buckets and Schools for Sustainability held 25 initial interviews with all the families in the community to better understand the water situation. Based on feedback, 33 Buckets adapted their solution to a smaller scale distribution unit to fit the community needs. Through Schools for Sustainability, 7 volunteers gained experiential learning. Our entrepreneurs, Anderson and Alta Gracia, have already begun recording and reporting sales.
