Marisol Luna Aguero

Professional Engineering Consultant

I joined 33 Buckets shortly after graduating with my civil engineering degree from ASU in 2017. I currently work as a civil engineer-in-training in the stormwater department at HILGARTWILSON, a local land development company based in Phoenix, Arizona.

I will pursue a Master’s degree in Water Science, Policy and Management at the University of Oxford in 2021.It is through my experience working at 33 Buckets that I have found that water projects in sustainable development are what fulfill my passion.

During my travels with the 33 Buckets team, I have witnessed a significant lack of education in water, sanitation, and hygiene and inequitable distribution of water. All of which, often, lead to grave challenges in water quality and water security for rural, indigenous communities. As someone who grew up in Mexico, close to these types of communities, tackling these challenges is a mission that is dear to my heart.

Before finding interest in civil engineering and clean water, I wanted to be a painter. Since I was little, I have loved to paint and continue to do so in my spare time. I also love going to concerts with friends and spending time with my parents and my brother.
