Mark Huerta

Co-founder and Chairman

Mark is the Co-Founder and Chairman of 33 Buckets. He manages the board of directors and helps shape the strategic direction of the organization. Mark has led and supported the implementation of clean water projects in Peru, Bangladesh, and the Dominican Republic. Mark was featured in a local Arizona State University (ASU) Super Bowl commercial for his work with 33 Buckets and is the recipient of the Barrett Early Career Achievement Award, Pritzker Prize Top 5 Finalist for Emerging Environmental Genius, and Tempe Sister Cities “Making a World of Difference” Award.

He has many fond memories with 33 Buckets, but perhaps his most transformative experience stems from his first clean water project at the Rahima Hoque School in the rural community of Baher Char, Bangladesh. During this trip, Mark forged deep, personal connections with the students and community-members as he learned more about their way of life. He still recalls the joy and exhilaration by everyone upon completion of the project, and how it instilled him with a sense of overwhelming drive to continue this work.

Mark is also passionate about inspiring others to become the best version of themselves. He is a professor at ASU and helps manage local and global service-based projects for students within EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) and Global Resolve programs.
